To begin my ramble, you should know where the title of this post is from. If you dont, you just haven’t experienced good music as of yet.
In fact, you suck. Heh.
I would like a new guitar, a new acoustic guitar so i can enter my dads new music studio with glee and in a kind of satisfied ‘i have more ability to write song’s’ than you attitude. Of course i won’t due to the fact, that is wrong and definately not professional.
I actually can’t believe he went ahead with it, he has monitors and everything, a massive space which he’s luckily-very luckily got hold of in Portishead. You shouldn’t forget that the artist Portishead did come from there… it’s true, when you arrive you kind of look out to that magical water and you get lost. You sulk and move into a depressed state, which -with no criticism what so ever, is reflected in their airy music.
As you can tell i was thinking about this rather in depth, whether it would have any effect on the music my family produce. Would my dads beated jazz decend into the airy Kate Bush tones i wish to create. As long as there is a meaning for random skipped notes- and bopped chord changes, i’m sure my dads music will excell into an ocean of Eagles, Beach Boys, Coltrane and Chuck Loeb and decend into a wreck of Air and Massive Attack. I hope it does.
My music i’m writing, nearly an albums worth, is eeking Bjork. It’s hard to move away from expressionism once you’re in. It allows you to be much more emotive. Some bits sound very Kate Bush obviously, especially the guitar.
I keep it quite. Why show music that is unfinished, in my opinion you shouldn’t let people tackle your ideas. My previous songs i’ve written in under an hour and played like once? then recorded. I could never play them again. That’s hard. There was no progress- i couldn’t just remember them. I need stuff to be layered.
Basically what i’m trying to say is i’ve never achieved something so worthwhile until today. I’ve begun to understand why i am actually playing guitar, piano and all of those other, less worthy instruments.
A song can take an hour, a masterpiece can take five years. After ten years, i can do this?
Synths, Drums, Cubase, Mac -pro, Bass.
Next year.
